The resurgence of classic fairytales are everywhere! There are the shows: Grimm and Once Upon a Time. There aren’t one but two Snow White movies coming out this year both with phenomenal leading ladies Charlize Theron and Julia Roberts. The popularity of these shows and movies have of course extended into mainstream fashion. When you look back at the settings of classic fairytales people are covered mainly from head to toe with tons of layers. In modern fairytale fashion, women are not walking around in full on ball gowns, but we are seeing a trend of more demure cuts, clean lines and fancy detailing. Fairytale Fashion goes along the trend of the ladylike theme this Spring. I am ecstatic about these new fashions, finally someone realized hey it’s okay to wear clothes and women actually still look good when they are covered up! I will show you a few of my favorite Fairytale/Ladylike inspired Fashions and how you wear them in a modern way.
Modern Day Fairytale
When doing your everyday activities such as errand running, toting kids around etc. most people are thinking of comfort. I always tell people comfort can still be chic. Wear a puffed sleeve sweater and an a-line midi or mid length skirt. If you don’t prefer a skirt pair the sweater with straight leg slacks in a fun color or print. To make the look casual wear flats. to dress it up wear pumps. Accessorize with pearls and a large structured satchel so you can carry all of your essentials and still get things done.

When you are out for a date or at a special event you can really let your inner Cinderella shine! Since maxi skirts and full skirts are in full swing feel free to put one on. By now you all know that I love a long hemline, so whenever I have the opportunity I don a long dress. There is something so classic about it that I just love! However, you can also wear a midi skirt and channel the same feeling. Pair your maxi with a lace top. The one featured here needs a cami underneath.
